Creating Your Own Adventures

After running these three adventures, you’ll have a solid feel for the system! Here are tips for creating your own:

Good Adventure Sources

  • Real upcoming events (campouts, service projects)
  • Local places and landmarks
  • Scout rank requirements and activities
  • Books, movies, or games the kids enjoy
  • Historical events or famous explorers

Structure Template

  1. The Hook: Why are the scouts involved?
  2. Challenge 1: Something to discover or overcome
  3. Challenge 2: A different type of obstacle
  4. Challenge 3: The climax
  5. Resolution: Celebrate success!

Balancing Tips

  • Include challenges for all three attributes
  • Give every player a chance to shine
  • Make failure interesting, not punishing
  • Keep real stakes low but story stakes high
